What product do you use to finish your tables, desks, serving ware and home décor pieces?

All River Me Timber pieces are finished with ‘Rubio MonocoatOil Plus 2C’ which is a 2-component oil and accelerant/hardener product. It works by forming a molecular bond with the topmost fibres of the timber. This results in a durable finish with great wear, water and heat resistance while keeping the natural look and feel of the timber.

When you mention your finish (Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C), you say that it is Food Contact Compliant, what does this mean?

The manufacturer does not recommend using Oil Plus 2C on cutting boards or butcher blocks that will be used for cutting.

However, they do say that the product is safe to use on food surfaces, it is acceptable to use on charcuterie and serving boards.

Is the resin you use Food Safe?

The manufacturer states that it is Food Contact Safe, the same as Rubio Monocoat.

How do you clean and care for your tables, desks and home décor pieces?

The manufacturer recommends using its Surface Care Spray
when cleaning and not to use over the counter cleaners as most have solvents or caustic qualities that could strip the protective properties of the finish.

Due to Rubio Monocoat having a durable and water resistance
finish, I use a damp (Not wet) cloth to clean my pieces and thoroughly wipe then dry.

How do you clean and care for your serving ware pieces?

Same as tables, desks and home décor pieces except after drying, you should also air dry them standing up to ensure they are completely dry before putting away.

As with all timber products, Do Not be tempted to put your piece in a dishwasher or submerse in water.

Care should be taken if cutting anything on these boards.
